An altar is your conception of what you want and can afford.
It might be an old cabinet or table.
In Father Grahams bedroom he has used a shelf on a wall, covered with black fabric.
It might be a piece of fabric placed on the floor, or if privacy is an issue, hang fabric on the back of the wardrobe door covered with a poster.
It might be a secluded place in a forest.
If you are really poor, it can be anything where you can kneel and prayer in seclusion
